A mature-age recruit from VFA club Springvale, Glenn Giles arrived at Melbourne as the older brother of established Demon Peter Giles. Standing 186cm, he was a solid utility brought in to add immediate size and experience to the list during the club's tumultuous 1981 season. He made his senior debut against St Kilda at Moorabbin and had the distinction of playing alongside his brother in both of his two career matches. Unable to secure a permanent spot, he returned to the VFA the following year, eventually crossing to Prahran where he featured in their 1987 Second Division premiership side before retiring in 1989.
