Stats
Bio
Recruited from Blackburn following his service with the Royal Australian Air Force in World War II, Gordon Anderson joined Hawthorn in 1947 as a versatile follower and forward. Standing 185cm, he provided a strong presence around the ground and inside 50 for a Hawks outfit that often found itself under siege during a lean era. His most notable individual campaign came in 1950, when he topped the club's goalkicking table with 21 majors, providing a rare focal point in a side that struggled for attacking fluency. Anderson remained a consistent figure in the senior lineup until the end of 1951, eventually departing Glenferrie Oval the following year to take up a coaching role with Surrey Hills.
