Bio
Recruited from St James in the Yarrawonga district, Gordon Green was a diminutive rover and forward whose clever play around goals made him a fixture of Carlton's pre-war dominance. Standing just 166cm, he compensated for his size with pace and football nous, playing a crucial role in the Blues' back-to-back premiership triumphs of 1914 and 1915. His career was interrupted by the Great War, during which he served with the 8th Infantry Brigade, but he returned to Princes Park to play for three more seasons. Green was appointed club captain for his final year in 1921, finishing his career by leading the Blues onto the field in the Grand Final against Richmond.
