Bio
Recruited from Balmain in Sydney, Gordon Hislop was a dashing half-back flanker who arrived at Punt Road with a reputation for speed, having already represented New South Wales in interstate football. The younger brother of Tiger Max Hislop, he relied on his pace—evidenced by his competitive running in Stawell Gift heats—to break lines and drive the ball out of defence with fine anticipation. He played the majority of his senior football alongside his sibling, featuring prominently in the club's 1924 finals campaign where Richmond finished runners-up to Essendon in the unique round-robin format. His promising VFL career was cut short not by form, but by a transfer with the General Post Office to Ballarat, where he became captain-coach of Golden Point before eventually moving to Tasmania to coach Newtown.
