Bio
A dashing and robust recruit from Frankston, Gordon Proudfoot arrived at Fitzroy with a reputation for strong two-sided kicking and an imposing physical presence. After impressing enough in the reserves to earn a senior debut in 1954, his VFL career was brutally interrupted by severe facial injuries—including a fractured cheekbone and concussion—sustained in a clash against Hawthorn at Glenferrie Oval. Although he managed to return to the field, he struggled to recapture his momentum at Brunswick Street and departed in 1956 to join Camberwell in the VFA under former Fitzroy star Ken Ross. Proudfoot later cemented his legacy on the Mornington Peninsula, where he served as a highly respected captain-coach for Dromana in the early 1960s.
