Bio
Recruited from Tunbridge in Tasmania, Graeme Beissel was a diminutive rover who broke into the Essendon lineup during the early 1960s. He is largely remembered for the misfortune of missing out on the club's 1962 premiership; after playing in both the drawn Second Semi-Final and the subsequent replay victory over Geelong, he was omitted from the Grand Final side to accommodate the return of Graeme Johnston. While he possessed pace and the ability to find the goals, Beissel found it difficult to retain a regular senior position amidst a strong era for the Bombers, eventually departing Windy Hill at the end of 1964 to continue his career in the VFA with Coburg.
