Bio
A product of the Melbourne Thirds, Pinfold was a versatile small capable of playing as a rover or in the back pocket. His career coincided with the Demons' golden era under Norm Smith, leaving him on the fringe of a formidable lineup that dominated the competition. After featuring in the club's 1956 reserves premiership, he broke into the senior side the following year but found sustained selection difficult, never playing more than seven games in a single season. He overcame a serious eye injury sustained in a 1960 practice match to feature later that year and was briefly considered the successor to legendary defender John Beckwith in 1961. Unable to cement his spot in the defensive unit, he eventually departed the VFL to continue his career with Preston in the VFA.
