Bio
Recruited from the Preston Scouts, Graeme Shearer was a defensive-minded utility who earned his opportunity with Fitzroy in the late 1960s. Standing 180cm, he operated primarily as a back pocket or half-back flanker, making his senior debut in 1968 but battling to secure a permanent place in the Lions' lineup over three seasons. After 19 games and five goals at the VFL level, Shearer moved to Tasmania, where he found significant success with the Scottsdale Football Club in the NTFA. He became a key member of the Magpies' defence during a golden era for the club, notably playing in their historic 1973 State Premiership victory over Cooee. His life was tragically cut short when he passed away in 1983 at just 34 years of age.
