Bio
Recruited from the Preston Swimmers, Graeme Weatherley was an imposing 191cm key position prospect who broke into the Fitzroy lineup as a teenager late in the 1974 season. Utilised primarily as a forward who could chop out in the ruck, he showed genuine glimpses of talent at VFL level, averaging better than a goal a game during his short stint at the Junction Oval. However, his lasting impact on the game came after his departure from the big league, where he transformed into a legendary figure in the Goulburn Valley League (GVL). Weatherley took the reins at Shepparton United and engineered a golden era for the club, coaching the Demons to a famous premiership hat-trick from 1987 to 1989 to cement his status as a country football icon.
