Bio
Recruited from University Blues in the VAFA, Graeme Wilson was a talented half-forward who made a bright start to his VFL career at South Melbourne. Standing 184cm, he demonstrated an early ability to win his own ball and hit the scoreboard, averaging exactly a goal a game across his short stint at the Lakeside Oval. While he showed the makings of a consistent senior footballer, finding plenty of the footy in his debut season, his sporting career was ultimately a prelude to a distinguished life in public service. Wilson left the game to pursue diplomatic roles, eventually serving as Australia’s High Commissioner to South Africa before his passing in 2014.
