Bio
A promising schoolboy talent who balanced VFL football with his studies, Graham Colclough played his brief career with Melbourne while still a student at Scotch College. Standing 180cm—a handy size for the turn of the century—he proved to be a capable forward option, booting eight goals in his 11 senior appearances. His priorities, however, remained firmly divided between the field and the classroom; he notably withdrew from a match during his sole season to study for a Monday school examination. After the 1901 season, Colclough left the metropolitan league to join Ballarat, where he played for four years, before later distinguishing himself in the First World War as a decorated soldier awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
