Bio
Arriving at Victoria Park via East Devonport with pick 8 in the 1987 National Draft, Graham Wright quickly established himself as one of the premier wingmen of the early 1990s. A dashing left-footer with elite pace and endurance, he was instrumental in breaking lines and driving the Magpies into attack. His breakout season coincided with the club's historic drought-breaking year in 1990, where his running power was a critical asset to Leigh Matthews' premiership side. Wright's individual brilliance that season was recognised with All-Australian selection and a second-place finish in the Brownlow Medal, polling 17 votes to finish just behind Tony Liberatore.
Wright remained a consistent performer throughout the decade, eventually surpassing the 200-game milestone in his final season in 1998. While the Magpies struggled to replicate their premiership success in the years following the flag, Wright's reliability and ball-carrying ability ensured he remained a key fixture in the senior side for over a decade. His contribution to the club was immortalised when he was named on the wing in the Collingwood Team of the Century, cementing his status as one of the Magpies' most important figures of the modern era before he transitioned into a highly successful career in football administration.
