Bio
Recruited from Latrobe in Tasmania, Grant Allford initially made his mark at Tigerland as a prolific junior forward, topping the VFL under-19s goalkicking and booting six goals in the 1969 premiership decider. Upon graduating to the seniors, the lightly built utility reinvented himself as a key defender, most notably curbing Collingwood goal-machine Peter McKenna in the 1971 First Semi-Final. Despite showing promise as a full-back, Allford found it difficult to cement a permanent spot in Tom Hafey’s star-studded lineup, playing in the 1973 Qualifying Final but ultimately missing out on the club's premiership triumph weeks later. He eventually headed west to play for Claremont in the WAFL before returning to his home state, where he was later inducted into the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame.
