Bio
Recruited to the Sydney Swans during the flamboyant Geoffrey Edelsten era, Grant Bartholomaeus was a sturdy utility with country football origins at Forbes and Langhorne Creek. He broke into the senior lineup as a teenager late in the 1986 season, but found opportunities scarce in a side that often prioritised high-profile imports, managing just four senior games over his tenure. While he could not cement a long-term spot in the best 22, Bartholomaeus remained a dedicated figure within the Sydney football landscape long after his playing days concluded. He established a lasting legacy as a development coach, notably heading up the Swans' Southern Academy, and further deepened his family's connection to the club when his son, Jake, emerged as a NEAFL star and reserves standout.
