Bio
Arriving at Windy Hill from Essendon Grammar, Greg Brown developed into one of the league's finest full-backs during the mid-1960s. He was a disciplined, close-checking defender who offered drive from the backline with his long kicking and strong overhead marking. Brown’s defensive work was instrumental in the Bombers’ 1965 premiership victory, and he remained a standout performer over the subsequent seasons, finishing runner-up in the 1967 Best and Fairest count. Despite this peak, injuries and a loss of form saw him fall out of the senior rotation by 1969, where he spent his final year dominating the reserves competition before departing for Waverley in the VFA. He later reconnected with the club as a long-serving administrator and board member, cementing his status as a lifelong servant of Essendon.
