Bio
Recruited from Springvale, Greg Doyle initially struggled to break into the senior side at St Kilda, making just two appearances in 1990 before being delisted. He rebuilt his credentials in the VFA with Dandenong, where his form in their 1991 premiership campaign convinced Melbourne to hand him a lifeline with pick two in the 1992 Mid-Season Draft. A strong-bodied, left-footed ruckman who stood 190cm, Doyle often conceded height to opponents but used his physical presence to neutralise contests and drift forward as a scoring option. Although he spent much of his time at the Demons on the fringe of selection, he enjoyed a career-best season in 1994 and was a member of the club's 1993 reserves premiership team before returning to the VFA to captain-coach Traralgon.
