Bio
A tall follower originally from South Yarra YCW, Greg Lourey arrived at Melbourne as a teenager but endured a career defined by unfortunate timing and injury. He broke into the senior side during the Demons' successful 1948 campaign, playing five games in his debut season before a knee injury sustained in a mid-season tour match cruelly ended his year and ruled him out of premiership contention. After missing the entire 1949 season and struggling to regain a permanent foothold in the lineup in 1950, he crossed to Fitzroy in search of greater opportunity. Lourey added ten games with the Lions over two seasons, often battling fitness issues, before eventually leaving the VFL to finish his playing days with Prahran in the VFA.
