Recruited from Redan in the Ballarat Football League after winning the 1981 Henderson Medal, Greg Packham was a dangerous left-footed forward who made a distinct mark during a brief VFL career. Instantly recognisable by his red hair, Packham holds a unique place in statistical history as one of the few players to kick at least one goal in every game he played; across 17 senior appearances for the Saints, he never finished a match goalless. Despite averaging nearly two goals a game, his tenure at Moorabbin ended after the 1983 season, leading him to embark on a successful cross-country journey through the lower grades. He went on to finish second in the VFA's Division 2 best and fairest with Caulfield, won a premiership with St Mary's in the NTFL, and tied for the Grogan Medal with Kedron in the QAFL, cementing his status as a prolific state-league performer.
