Stats
Bio
A decorated SANFL champion before attempting a late career transition to the AFL, Greg Whittlesea arrived at Hawthorn with an immaculate resume as a Magarey Medallist and Sturt captain. Although originally selected by Richmond in the 1986 draft, the fearless defender-turned-midfielder opted to remain with the Double Blues, where he claimed South Australian football's highest individual honour in 1988. He eventually crossed the border to join the Hawks for the 1991 season, but found himself competing for a spot in a premiership-bound side teeming with legends. Unable to displace the club's established stars, Whittlesea managed just a handful of senior games as a depth player before returning to his home state to finish his career with Glenelg.
