Bio
Making a brief appearance for St Kilda during the club's difficult formative years in the VFL, Gus Hefter played just two senior matches at the start of the 1899 season. He debuted in the opening round loss to Collingwood and held his spot for the following week's heavy defeat against Fitzroy, but was unable to establish a lasting presence in a side that ultimately went winless and claimed the wooden spoon. With no goals recorded during his short tenure, Hefter remains one of many transient figures who passed through the Junction Oval as the Saints struggled to find competitiveness at the turn of the century.
