Bio
A wartime recruit from Frankston, Hal Hanton is remembered as one half of a twin pairing that briefly represented Carlton during the tumultuous 1945 season. Arriving alongside his identical brother Alex, he broke into the senior side for the opening round and retained his place for a win over Hawthorn the following week, only for his campaign to be cut short by a military posting to Bougainville. While he missed the chance to participate in the club's eventual 'Bloodbath' premiership triumph, Hanton returned to Princes Park after the war hoping to resume his career. However, his comeback was derailed in early 1946 when he suffered a severe hernia from a knee to the groin in a practice match, effectively ending his VFL tenure after just two games.
