Bio
Originally from Queensland club Kedron Grange, tall defender Hamish Simpson took a detour through the SANFL with Woodville-West Torrens before catching the eye of Geelong recruiters. Selected in the 1996 National Draft, he spent over a year developing in the reserves before making his senior debut in Round 5, 1998 against Adelaide. Standing at 191cm, Simpson was utilised as a key back, tasked with minding opposition tall forwards during a transitional period for the Cats' defence. He enjoyed his most consistent run of form late in the 1999 season, playing the final eight games and appearing poised to consolidate a regular spot in the back six. However, he unable to maintain that momentum the following year, managing just a single senior appearance in 2000 before being delisted.
