Stats
Bio
Recruited from the local Carlton District side, Harry Bell was a diminutive footballer who squeezed every ounce of effort out of his light 170cm, 60kg frame. He spent seven seasons at Princes Park during the 1920s, operating primarily as a wingman or small defender where he relied on agility rather than size. While he was a serviceable player who managed 55 senior games, he never quite cemented a permanent spot in the starting lineup, kicking just five career goals. Bell's most significant contribution to the Blues came off the field after his playing days ended; he served as the club's Secretary for over a decade, guiding the administration through the tumultuous 1945 "Bloodbath" premiership and the 1947 flag. He later solidified his status as a key custodian of the club's heritage by co-authoring the seminal history book, The Carlton Story.
