Bio
Arriving at Essendon after serving in the Second World War, Harry Equid was a powerful half-forward and follower originally recruited from Mildura. Renowned for his strong marking ability and his distinct preference for the place kick—being one of the last VFL players to regularly use the technique for set shots—he established himself as a dangerous scoring avenue in the Bombers' post-war attack. His tenure peaked during the 1946 premiership campaign, where he finished as the club’s third-leading goalkicker and booted three vital goals in the Grand Final triumph over Melbourne. Equid remained a senior regular until the end of 1948, eventually departing the VFL to captain-coach Coburg in the VFA.
