Stats
Bio
Recruited from North Melbourne Juniors, Harry "Speed" Gregory was a dashing half-back flanker who became a defensive staple for Essendon throughout the 1920s. Standing just 173cm, he relied on his natural pace and agility to rebound out of the back half, fitting the mould of the club's famous "Mosquito Fleet" era. He experienced immediate success at VFL level, playing in every match of the unique 1924 round-robin finals series to help secure the premiership for the Bombers. A disciplined defender who never drifted forward enough to kick a goal in his 89 senior games, Gregory was a consistent contributor at Windy Hill until 1930, after which he transferred to the VFA to finish his career with Coburg.
