A product of the local pathway, Harry Grigg was recruited from St Kilda Juniors and broke into the senior side in 1919 as the league returned to full operations following the First World War. Standing at just 174cm and with a slight frame, he was a diminutive rover and forward option who relied on agility rather than physical presence during a particularly lean era for the club. He featured sporadically over three seasons, often rotating in and out of a Saints lineup that languished near the bottom of the ladder. Although he had the opportunity to play alongside club legend Roy Cazaly in his final year, Grigg struggled to cement a permanent position in the struggling side and departed the VFL landscape after the 1921 season.
