Bio
A product of the Giants Academy, Harry Himmelberg was selected with pick 16 in the 2015 national draft, representing a significant local talent retention success for the club. Hailing from Wagga Wagga, he initially carved out a niche as a lead-up forward, using his mobility and strong hands to link play inside 50. He became a fixture in the forward line during the club's maiden Grand Final appearance in 2019, consistently hitting the scoreboard before his utility began to evolve significantly. While he proved a reliable goal-kicker, a shift to defence later in his career unlocked his potential as an elite intercept marker who could launch counter-attacks with precise kicking.
Himmelberg established himself as the ultimate swingman, capable of impacting the game at either end of the ground depending on the team's structural needs. His standing at the club was solidified in 2023 when, amidst intense free agency interest from rival clubs, he rejected offers to return to the forward line elsewhere and signed a long-term extension with GWS.
