Recruited from Kyneton in country Victoria, Claude "Harry" Rigby was a fleet-footed and lightly framed wingman who began his VFL career with Carlton at the turn of the century. After three seasons at Princes Park, he departed midway through 1902 to return to local football before resurfacing in the VFA, where he became a key contributor in Richmond's 1905 premiership side. The speedster eventually returned to the VFL after a four-year absence, finishing his career with a two-season stint at Melbourne before retiring to focus on his profession as a pharmacist.
