Bio
Recruited from Melbourne High School, Harry Rowe was a gifted dual sportsman whose brief VFL career was ultimately overshadowed by his accomplishments in cricket. He broke into the Melbourne senior side late in the 1945 season, but despite his natural athleticism, he managed only two appearances across two years before shifting his focus away from football. While he could not cement a spot in the Demons' lineup, Rowe utilised his hands and reflexes to great effect as a first-class wicketkeeper for Victoria. He is best remembered in sporting circles for his post-playing administration career, serving as a long-time President of the Victorian Cricket Association and managing Australian touring parties.
