Bio
A product of the South Melbourne District ranks, Harry Simpson found his greatest success after leaving the VFL system. While he played 16 games as a ruckman and forward for South Melbourne from 1948 to 1950, he struggled to command a permanent place in the senior lineup. His career truly flourished following a transfer to Williamstown in the VFA, where he became a dominant figure during the club's golden era. Simpson played a pivotal role in the Seagulls' 1954 and 1955 premierships, winning consecutive club best and fairest awards and finishing runner-up in the J.J. Liston Trophy. A mobile big man capable of hitting the scoreboard, his standing at Williamstown was solidified with his selection in their Team of the Century.
