A prolific country forward recruited from Lilydale, Harry Verdon arrived at St Kilda in 1927 as a promising teenager after booting nearly 60 goals in his local league. Standing 174cm, he was a dangerous option near goal and managed three majors across his two appearances for the Saints before drifting out of the league to play for Yea. Verdon's form in the country earned him a VFL lifeline with Fitzroy in 1931, where he produced a curious statistical legacy.
