Stats
Bio
Hailing from local club Parkside, Haydn Sharp was a diminutive but talented forward who broke into the Footscray lineup on the eve of World War II. While limited to just four senior appearances in the 1939 season, the 173cm rover showed significant quality at the lower level, finishing equal-second in the Gardiner Medal count for the VFL Reserves' best and fairest that same year. He managed a goal a game during his brief taste of senior football before his promising career was effectively ended by the outbreak of war. Sharp served in the Royal Australian Navy aboard HMAS Moreton and did not return to VFL level following the conflict, leaving him as a notable "what if" for the Bulldogs.
