Bio
Recruited from Maryborough, Hedley Blackmore made his mark at Carlton as a crafty rover and small forward with a sharp eye for the big sticks. Arriving at Princes Park in 1923, he proved to be a potent scoring threat, booting 76 goals in his 51 games—an impressive strike rate for a smaller player in that era. While his VFL tenure ended after five seasons, Blackmore was far from finished with football, crossing to the VFA where he became a key figure for Brunswick. He went on to play nearly 100 games for the club and eventually took on the role of coach, cementing a respectable legacy in Victorian football beyond his time in the navy blue.
