Bio
Recruited from Warburton in the Yarra Valley, Henry Merritt was a tall utility capable of playing as a forward or follower. He arrived at St Kilda as a 25-year-old mature-age recruit during the 1911 season, a difficult year for the club that ultimately saw them claim the wooden spoon. Merritt made his debut against Collingwood at Victoria Park and managed three senior appearances scattered throughout the year, utilised primarily for his height in the ruck and attack to support a struggling lineup. Often recorded in historical registries as Henry Merrett, his VFL career was confined to this single campaign before he departed the top level.
