Bio
Recruited from the NSW/ACT Rams with pick 41 in the 2001 National Draft, Henry Playfair commenced his career at Geelong as an imposing key forward known for his contested marking ability. He became a regular fixture in the Cats' attack during the mid-2000s, serving as a structural focal point, but found himself squeezed out of the side during the club's dominant 2007 premiership campaign due to the emergence of Tom Hawkins and a surplus of tall timber. Seeking consistent senior football and a return to his home state, Playfair was traded to the Sydney Swans for the 2008 season, where he was successfully reinvented as a key defender to support an ageing backline. Although his read of the play and defensive application were valued, his tenure in Sydney was frustrated by recurring hamstring issues, ultimately limiting his output until his retirement in 2010 to pursue a career in coaching.
