Bio
Recruited from the amateur ranks at AJAX, Henry Ritterman arrived at Melbourne in 1971 alongside his identical twin brother, Michael, after initially turning the club down to develop his game in the VAFA. A small rover and half-forward, Ritterman was a serviceable contributor for the Demons but struggled to cement a permanent place in the starting eighteen, frequently utilised as the 19th or 20th man throughout his three seasons. He played his best football in 1972, managing 12 senior appearances, but was delisted following the 1973 season—a year in which he notably represented Australia at the Maccabiah Games in Israel. Following his VFL departure, he played for Oakleigh in the VFA before returning to AJAX, where he eventually served as president and was named in the club's Team of the Century.
