Bio
Recruited from Korumburra in South Gippsland, Herb Hudson was one of several country footballers trialled by St Kilda as the club attempted to drag itself out of the cellar of the VFL ladder. He arrived at the Junction Oval for the 1903 season, a year where the Saints were aggressively rebuilding their list with high-profile recruits like Vic Cumberland to improve upon consecutive wooden spoons. Hudson was granted a brief opportunity in the senior side, making his debut in Round 4 against Carlton at Princes Park, followed by a second appearance the following week against Fitzroy. He was unable to impact the scoreboard in either of his two matches—both comfortable losses for the Saints—and was subsequently omitted, returning to obscurity after a fortnight of League football.
