Bio
Hailing from Papua New Guinea, Hewago "Ace" Oea carved out a unique pathway to the AFL, joining the Gold Coast Suns initially via their Academy program before being signed as a Category B rookie. Renowned for his elite endurance and electric speed, he developed as a high-pressure small forward and winger capable of breaking lines and harassing opposition defenders. He made a memorable debut in 2022, kicking a goal with one of his first involvements to spark jubilant scenes among his teammates. Despite demonstrating flashes of his exciting potential and consistently dominating the club's pre-season time trials, Oea struggled to secure a permanent position in the Suns' senior side and was delisted at the conclusion of the 2024 season, departing as a significant trailblazer for Australian football in the Pacific.
