Bio
A footballing nomad of the early 20th century, Horrie Brain arrived at St Kilda with a unique resume that included stints in both his native Tasmania and the fledgling Queensland Football League. Originally from Colebrook and a product of North Hobart, Brain spent the 1906 season with Brisbane before venturing south to Melbourne. He managed 11 consecutive appearances for the Saints in the first half of the 1907 season, featuring primarily in the defensive half, before his brief VFL career came to a close. Brain eventually returned to North Hobart to continue his state-league career, but his life took a sombre turn during World War I, where he served in France and suffered mustard gas poisoning in 1917.
