Stats
Bio
Recruited via a circuitous path, Horrie Jose initially failed to grade with the Magpies' reserves before a strong stint with rival Melbourne Districts earned him a senior call-up in 1915. A well-built utility who settled primarily as a defender, he was known for his athletic bursts and physical likeness to teammate 'Doc' Seddon, though his consistency and disposal were sometimes questioned by critics. His time at Victoria Park was defined by interruption; just as he established himself with a standout performance against Carlton, a severe leg injury sidelined him for months, and his momentum was ultimately halted by enlistment in the Australian Flying Corps. Jose returned from service in Egypt to manage two final appearances in late 1919 before continuing his football journey with Brunswick in the VFA.
