Stats
Bio
Originally hailing from Longford in Tasmania, Horrie Webster was a versatile key position player recruited from the City Football Club in Launceston. Standing 185cm, he possessed the height to play as a follower or key defender but notably had the capacity to drift forward and hit the scoreboard, maintaining a solid goal-kicking record for a big man of that era. After a single debut season with South Melbourne in 1913, Webster crossed to Essendon the following year, where he played out the remainder of his VFL tenure as a regular contributor. His time at the top level was cut short by the outbreak of World War I; he enlisted for active service in 1915 and served with the 58th Battalion, and although he returned to Australia after the conflict, he did not resume his League career.
