Bio
Recruited from Rutherglen in the Ovens & Murray league, Hugh Earnshaw was a compact rover who earned a brief opportunity at Kardinia Park during the 1959 season. He managed just two senior games for Geelong in his solitary VFL campaign, struggling to secure a permanent spot in the rotation before returning to country football. Earnshaw later became a standout performer for Yackandandah in the Tallangatta & District Football League, where he famously tied for the 1964 league Best and Fairest only to lose the award on a countback. While his time at the elite level was fleeting, he remained a respected figure in regional football circles, eventually finishing his playing days back in the O&M with the Wangaratta Rovers.
