Bio
A lifelong Port Adelaide supporter from Crystal Brook in South Australia's mid-north, Hugh Jackson arrived at Alberton via North Adelaide with a reputation as a prolific ball-winner with clean hands. Selected late in the 2021 National Draft, his early development was severely hampered by recurring hip injuries and the immense difficulty of cracking a midfield rotation anchored by stars like Connor Rozee and Zak Butters. Jackson spent his first three seasons toiling in the SANFL, where his composure and silky left-foot delivery eventually demanded selection in his fourth year on the list. He finally earned his AFL debut in 2025, playing a block of nine games that showcased his ability to find space and use the ball effectively on the outside. Despite finally breaking through and looking comfortable at the level, Jackson was delisted at the conclusion of that season as the club aggressively reshaped its list, marking an unfortunate end to a stint defined by persistence against injury and depth.
