Bio
Hailing from the tiny Goulburn Valley settlement of Karramomus, Hugh McKay was a country recruit who earned a brief tenure at Corio Oval during the Edwardian era. He made his way to Geelong for the 1907 VFL season, joining a side that was hovering around the middle of the ladder. A fringe player who struggled to secure a permanent place in the senior lineup, McKay managed just nine appearances across two seasons, booting his solitary VFL goal during his debut year. His short stint at the top level was typical of many regional footballers of the time who found it difficult to sustain a long-term League career away from home, and he eventually settled in the Western District town of Birregurra later in life.
