Bio
Recruited from St Arnaud in country Victoria, Ian Aston was a speedy wingman and rover who became a consistent performer for Fitzroy during the late 1950s. He utilized his pace and ball-winning ability to establish himself as a regular in the senior side, enjoying a standout season in 1959 when he represented Victoria in interstate football and polled eight Brownlow Medal votes. Aston remained a fixture in the lineup until 1962, but his VFL career came to a premature end at just 24 years of age, leaving him agonizingly close to the century milestone with 98 games. He passed away in 1988 at the age of 51.
