Bio
Recruited from Redan in the Ballarat Football League, Ian Burt was a follower who joined Essendon on a playing permit during the 1959 season. He made four senior appearances for the Bombers, debuting in a victory over Fitzroy at Brunswick Street, but his time at the VFL level proved fleeting. Following his brief stint at Windy Hill, Burt returned to the country leagues where he carved out a decorated career as a leader and player. He famously captain-coached both Cressy and Newlyn to premierships in consecutive seasons and later claimed the Bendigo Football League’s best and fairest award while representing Kyneton in 1964.
