Stats
Bio
Recruited from Spotswood, Ian Craig was a courageous utility who rose through the grades at Punt Road during the club’s golden era. After cutting his teeth in the Richmond fourths, he became a key contributor to the club's underage dominance, featuring in back-to-back Under-19 premiership sides in 1968 and 1969. Breaking into Tom Hafey's formidable senior lineup proved difficult, but Craig earned five senior caps across two seasons, utilised primarily as a wingman or half-forward. He remained a standout performer at the lower level, winning the 1971 Reserves Best and Fairest, though injury cruelly robbed him of a place in that year's Reserves premiership team. A qualified lawyer away from football, he later played for Waverley in the VFA before his life was tragically cut short by a heart condition at the age of 29.
