Stats
Bio
Recruited from the local Footscray Tech Old Boys and Newport, Ian Fleming was a capable forward who briefly graced the Western Oval in the late 1950s. He possessed a sharp eye for the goals, managing to boot 10 majors from just nine senior appearances—a strike rate that hinted at genuine talent inside the forward 50. Despite this efficiency, Fleming struggled to cement a regular spot in a competitive Bulldogs side captained by the legendary Ted Whitten, often finding himself on the fringe of selection during the 1958 and 1959 campaigns. Unable to command a permanent place in the starting 18, his VFL career was short-lived, concluding after two seasons with a respectable goal-kicking record but limited opportunities at the top level.
