Bio
Recruited from local club Strathmore, Ian Graham was a versatile follower and forward who faced the unenviable task of breaking into one of the most formidable lineups in VFL history. After progressing through the Under-19s, where he was named the club’s Most Improved player, Graham established himself as a dominant force in the seconds, claiming the Reserves Best and Fairest in 1961. Despite his consistent form at the lower level, opportunities in the senior side were scarce amidst Essendon's 1962 premiership era dominance, restricting him to just a handful of appearances as a reserve and forward over two seasons. He capped off his time at Windy Hill with a second Reserves Best and Fairest in 1963 before departing to pursue a successful VFA career with Coburg.
