Bio
Recruited from Hawthorn's reserves in the 1991 Pre-Season Draft, Ian Kidgell was a towering ruckman who stood an imposing 203cm, making him the tallest player in Brisbane Bears history at the time. A former junior high jump champion, the Haileybury College product possessed exceptional athleticism and vertical leap for a player of his size. He was made to wait until Round 21 for his senior debut, eventually playing three consecutive games as a ruck-forward to close out the season. Kidgell returned to Victoria the following year without adding to his AFL tally, later enjoying a premiership-winning career with Oakleigh in the VFA and Monbulk in local leagues.
